Taking Action
From the January newsletter …
I hope the holidays are happily wrapped up and your heart is open to welcome this fresh New Year. White Eagle has reminded us that this is a year for initiating ideas and taking action. What you are dreaming of … begin it! That brings me to a paralyzing aspect of human behavior. How many of you don’t start something because you don’t know how it fits your life purpose? You don’t have the money? the time? the know-how? A mother just reminded me, “No one would have children if we all waited until we were ready.” Are you stuck? blocked? Instead of figuring out how you got that way, just start moving. In his common sense wisdom White Eagle recently told an audience, “If you’re stuck it probably means you stopped walking.” Can I admit that I had no intention of writing about this, but this morning as I raced to get this newsletter out before catching a plane, I could feel my perfectionism getting the best of me. I looked at my website and saw all the things that could be improved. I thought of how much better this newsletter should be, how I should write something truly inspiring for this January issue … because ALL the newsletters I get are so … perfect. Who is it in my mind that I’m comparing myself to? Maybe I’m competing with those elusive and fictitious ‘Joneses’ who — at least in my thinking — have perfect websites, well-organized offices and Harvard-quality business-plans.
Stop! Just stop it! I say to you and me. We’re doing the best we can. Aren’t we? Go ahead and keep the goal … a successful business, a fulfilling job, a fabulous relationship, but remember — everything is a work in progress and again everyone is doing the best they can.
So I didn’t get this written before getting on the plane. And when I arrived in San Francisco I didn’t work on it either. I went for a walk down to the park by the Golden Gate Bridge. So this January update is late. It doesn’t have inspiring words about the spiritual significance of 2012. But if you close your eyes you just might glimpse the San Francisco Bay and catch a whiff of the 300 year-old cypress trees in the sunny afternoon sea air. At least for the moment I don’t care what I should do or what you think. I choose to get a life. 😉
