April Consciousness Update – “The Power of Innocence”

Because today is April 1: ‘April Fool's Day,’ I'm using the Fool as our starting point for this month. No one clearly knows when the idea of April Fool’s Day started or how, but it's universal in our Western culture.

The Fool in Tarot

Let’s look at the symbolism of the ‘Fool’ from the tarot deck. In the traditional tarot deck there are 78 numbered cards of the four major suits. But the Fool card has no number. He is zero, which means he is outside of structure, outside of the normal paradigms. There's a lot we can learn from being the Fool.

This month's theme is: Return to Innocence. Notice that the fool isn't ignorant. Rather he's innocent. The Fool signifies: a fresh start, new beginnings, a journey, an awakening, being on the edge.

Let's look at the various symbols in this Fool and see where we can relate:

  • First, you see that the Fool has a very small pack. He's not carrying much on his new journey.
  • He’s holding a white rose, a symbol of innocence, purity and truth.
  • There's a white dog barking to warn him of the precipice. For me, a white dog or white wolf has always meant protection. When I'm at sacred sites doing initiations, it's amazing how many times a white dog comes out of nowhere and comes to my left side. You notice the white dog on the Fool’s card is on his left side. The dog is both protection and a warning.

The most important thing about April is we are standing on the edge of a new paradigm. This Fool isn’t looking down from this precipice – to where he might fall; he's looking up at where he might fly. I invite you to be very conscious of looking up to the possibilities, rather than down to how bad it might be.

What is Possible?

I'm recalling a story from native elder Grandmother Parisha, who has worked with the monks in Tibet. She said: “Jonette, do you know that the monks don't walk between their monasteries, from one cliff to another side of the mountain? They fly.” She asked me if I would be ready to step off the cliff and fly? Honestly, my answer was ‘no.’ But that question opened me up to the power of trust. What is possible? What would you like to open up into this April?

Notice where the sun is on this card. It's high and behind him; meaning that his path forward is illuminated. However, the only place that will not be lit, is the area in his own shadow. The question for you is: How many times would your path be clear, except for your own shadows?

Forgiveness

We are at the beginning of a new awakening. We’re asked to return to innocence and get out of the shadows. To do this, number one is forgiveness.

  • I invite you to look first at self-forgiveness. What sins are you carrying around that keep you heavy, burdened and unable to fly?
  • Then, who have you not forgiven? As this also keeps stuck. I imagine forgiveness as an infinity symbol. It doesn't matter whether you forgive yourself or the other, it's the same thing.

Take time this April to go inside and clear yourself: forgive yourself and forgive others. This lightens your load and makes you able to fly.

Addiction to Fear

The second thing to look at in getting back to innocence, is our addiction to fear. Fear is very engaging, right? Often when we start conversations, the most engaging topic is about how bad it is. You might imagine that there's an over-active fog machine creating this fog of fear.

Be aware of where fear still has you by your throat. How are you engaging in fear? How can you let it go? The answer may be to disengage from social media, to do things for other people, to be with your animals, to focus on being present in the moment. Please be very conscious: one of forgiveness, two of fear.

Trust Your Instincts

The third awareness during this new awakening is to trust your instincts. The Fool is on the edge of the cliff, trusting his inner knowing. Remember that your left brain is all about the facts and data, but your right brain is where your instincts are. Support yourself by engaging in right brain activities: meditation, art, music, nature. Is your approach to the world mental or magical? Left brain or right brain?

Time of Dis-illusion

March finished with eclipses and with a huge astrological change where Neptune moved to Aries for 14 years, signaling an immense energy shift. There's a lot of head confusion now, competing with the rising up of inner knowing. It is a time of dis-illusion. We see old illusions disintegrate. Stay out of anger or fear. See the outside world from centered calmness.

The Age of Light

Some pundits say that the Kali yuga, which is the age of darkness, ended on the March equinox. We're giving birth to the next highest age of light, the Dwarpa yuga. The veils have opened. We get to be magical, not mental; not in fear as we move into whole brain, higher consciousness.

The 13th Dimension: Super-Consciousness

To support us, my guide MARK will be introducing us to the 13th dimension. For the last 35 years we've been working to open our experience of dimensions one through 12. The 13th dimension is it's outside of all cycles. It's something new. MARK is calling it Super- Consciousness. We’re leaving the predomination of our left brain, into whole brain consciousness that is intuitive, and magical. If you want to be part of this great awakening, I invite you to join us June 28 and 29 for a MARK-channeled workshop, an hour outside of Amsterdam. It will also be on Zoom. But I'm inviting anyone who wants to come to be physically in the room. It's not yet up on my website, as I just finished writing it up.
The focus is the 13th dimension and Super -Consciousness. I would love you to participate.

April is an awakening into a new era; the time where we embrace our fool, and the power of our innocence, move out of guilt, out of fear, into forgiveness.

Poem: Coming Home C.O.D.

I wrote this back in 1981 as I was flying home from Fiji after traveling with a backpack for six months through New Zealand and Australia: Coming Home C.O.D. (Cash On Delivery: back in the 1960s before credit cards, when you ordered something from the mail order catalog, you placed your order: C.O.D., which meant you paid the postman on delivery.) In this case, it meant I was returning home broke. (This poem can be found in the back of The Eagle and the Condor book.)

I'm coming home C.O.D.,
The world's roads at my back,
My pockets empty, save stones and shells
I’ve found along the track.
I've tramped through alpine wilderness,
Australia's Great Outback.
My legs are sore.
My jeans are torn
As I slowly lift my pack.

My ticket says I'm heading home,
But my spirit wants to stay.
I just can't take a life that says
I'll be the same place every day.
Sure you think you're happy,
But look at what you pay.
You've never seen the sun come up
over a blue New Zealand Bay.

To me, a rut’s a place with four walls and a door.
Coming in is easy,
But leaving is a chore.
You get your big TV
And think there's nothing more.
I am rich with stones and shells.
Your money keeps you poor.

You see, I've learned that standing still
Will make the soul grow old.
So when you feel the things you've got
Becoming a heavy load,
Remember you've got nothing,
If it's peace of mind you've sold.
And so you'll find me waiting there
Along some distant road.

Happy April, the beginning of this new age of light. May you return to the power of innocence, clarity and the ultimate beauty of your Soul. Thank you. I'll see you next month!
